The title song of the 2002 James Bond film Die Another Day always held a strange fascination with me. While I wasn’t so much a fan of the vocals, I was always very taken with the backing string arrangement of the song and its electronic undertones. I remember seeing the film in theaters when it first came out and obsessing over that string arrangement weeks later.

I have recently been going back and watching all the James Bond films again, and when I reached Die Another Day, I remembered those strings. A few weeks ago, I dug around on my computer and found an ancient project file in which I had begun to jot down those notes. I decided to pick up where I left off and do a complete remix.

Bear in mind that this remix is not of the song, per se, but of those strings. I started by recreating the string notation as best I could, and then abandoned the format and structure of the original in favor of simply putting together a remix in my style. This is the result of about five hours worth of work. It was just a fun side project I threw together one weeknight, but I like it. I hope you do too.
